The Langley Chess Club is pleased to announce a tournament to remember and acknowledge our friend and fellow Chess player, Peter Yee. Peter was a long time member of the Langley Chess Club and played tournaments there frequently for many years.
All profits from this tournament will be donated to the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation In Memory of Peter Yee for the Leukemia/BMT program.

This 2014 event had an attendance of 46 players. Slightly down from our previous record of about 60 players, but still a great turnout.

The 2014 April Swiss is underway, with 14 registered players. You can view the cross table on the Schedule Page, along with round-by-round pairings.
Summer is a busy time, and events at the Langley Chess Club vary depending on participation. Sometimes we hold a Monday-night Swiss during the summer. Otherwise, it’s open for drop-in games. Watch for an announcement on the Schedule page for closures during the Summer months.
Things kick off again at the end of August with the Langley Open. Watch for an announcement on that as well, and subscribe to our mailing list to be notified by email.
The 2013 Club Championship was held during the month of September and October. John Doknjas, last year’s Champion, successfully defended his title, scoring 4.5/5.0, a full point ahead of second place.

The 2013 Langley Correspondence tournament, our first such event, is now underway. It is being played online, with a time control of 5 days per move. In the end, 16 players from around BC registered, and have been paired into two groups for the first round. Three players advance from each group to Round 2 which will determine the winner.

The Langley Open for 2012 was a great success. The previous attendance record of 44 was exceeded by 16, pushing us well past our goal to an impressive 60 players. Thank you to everyone who came out. We hope you will join us again next year.
